Halophytes as Medicinal Plants against Human Infectious Diseases
نویسندگان
چکیده
Halophytes have long been used for medicinal purposes. However, many decades, their use was entirely empirical, with virtually no knowledge of the bioactive compounds underlying different applications. In recent growing problem antibiotic resistance triggered research on alternative antimicrobial approaches, and halophytes, along other plants, regained attention as an underexplored pharmacological vein. Furthermore, high nutritional/nutraceutical/pharmacological value some halophytic species may represent added to emerging activity saline agriculture targeted modification rhizosphere, plant-growth-promoting bacteria being attempted be a tool modulate plant metabolome enhance expression interesting metabolites. The objective this review is highlight potential halophytes valuable, still unexplored, source clinical For that, we provide critical perspective empirical in traditional medicine state-or-the-art overview most relevant metabolites related antiviral, antifungal antibacterial activities.

Antimicrobial Activity of Medicinal Plants against Human Pathogenic Bacteria
An attempt was made to analyse the antimicrobial potential of 2 medicinally important plants viz., Lagerstroemia indica and Annona reticulata leaf extracts against human bacterial pathogens viz., Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus auerus, Salmonella typhi, Proteus vulgaris and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Antimicrobial study was carried out by disc diffusion method against the pathogens by using ...
متن کاملThe role of T helper 9(Th9) against Infectious Diseases
Background and aims: Infectious diseases are disorders caused by organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites .The Th9 subset develops in response to combined signals from TGF-b and IL-4 among a cacophony of other cytokines in an extracellular milieu. T helper 9 (Th9) cells, as a novel CD4 T cell subset, seem to play a complex role in the outcome of specific immune responses. In thi...
متن کاملIdentification and Assessment of Fungal Diseases of Major Medicinal Plants
Medicinal plants are infected by fungal diseases. A four years survey indicated that, there are various fungal infections in roots and shoots of several medicinal plants that grown in Isfahan. Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), rosemarry (Rosmarinus officinalis) and viper’s bugloss (Borago officinalis) plants were infected by Fusarium oxysporum and F. solani on roots, showing wilting and eventu...
متن کاملThe Effect of Climate Changes on human Bacterial infectious diseases
A growing body of documents shows that rising average global temperatures can be one of several causes of disease emergence and reemergence among human and animal populations. In this regard, climate mostly affects diseases caused by pathogens that spend part of their lifecycle outside of the host, exposed to the environment like water-borne diseases, food-borne pathogens, and vector-borne zoon...
متن کاملHalophytes As Bioenergy Crops
Shrinking arable land due to soil salinization and, depleting fresh water resources pose serious worldwide constraints to crop productivity. A vision of using plant feedstock for biofuel production can only be realized if we can identify alternate species that can be grown on saline soils and therefore, would not compete for the resources required for conventional agriculture. Halophytes have r...
